Academic Research

Most CBD-rich products in the market today only include 1-20% CBD, while Kanabo’s OTC formulas include a broad spectrum of Cannabis oil with more than 70% of cannabinoids due to patent pending compositions.

The formulas are made with a proprietary, patent-pending carrier solution that replaces the traditional electronic cigarette liquids like PG/VG and MCT oil diluents currently dominating the market, and are suspected to release toxic materials when heated to the higher temperatures required for cannabis extracts. Kanabo’s proprietary neutral diluent allows for no irritation, high potency, and consistent dosing through the lifespan of the formula pod with superior bioavailability, as indicated by Kanabo’s clinical medical trials.

THC Formulations

Kanabo’s R&D activities initially focused on the development of formulas of medical Cannabis oils with THC to target CNS disorders. The first formula targeted insomnia and sleep disorders. Development has included creating the finalized recipes and medical validation activities that have included literature review, anecdotal/observational studies, and a pre-clinical trial in a sleep model. The sleep formula has received U.S. PCT Patents for the unique composition of the formula.

These medical cannabis formulas will require medical prescription. Target markets for these formulas are countries with a legal medical Cannabis program.

In addition to the initial formula targeting sleep disorders, Kanabo is developing formulas to target chronic pain and anxiety, with a focus on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). These formulas will be developed to target specific ailments and will be validated by performing a wide variety of studies - both pre-clinical and clinical - to assess their efficacy and safety.

Formulations mentioned below are not yet available for public purchase, as they are still in R&D, and are undergoing clinical trials.

Sleep Disorder

Targets patients who suffer from sleep disorders exacerbated by chronic pain (from various CNS disorders) and want help falling and staying asleep along with relief from pain.

Potential Targeted Conditions

Sleep disorders – insomnia, restless legs syndrome (RLS), or periodic limb movement disorder (PLMD). Structural disorders – brain or spinal cord injury/trauma, tumors, or neuropathy. Functional disorders – headache, neuralgia, or fibromyalgia.

Comparable Mainstream Medicine

Hypnotics, sedatives, melatonin supplements. Prescription sleep medications – Eszopiclone (Lunesta), nonbenzodiazepine sedative. Zolpidem (Ambien) a non-benzo hypnotic. Ramelteon (Rozerem) – a melatonin receptor agonist.

Chronic Pain

Targets patients who suffer from chronic pain (as a result of various CNS disorders) and want non-drowsy pain relief to stay focused throughout the day.

Potential Targeted Conditions

Structural disorders – brain or spinal cord injury/trauma, tumors, or neuropathy. Functional disorders – headache, fibromyalgia. Other disorders – arthritis, shingles, central pain syndrome.
